Mold Survey & Mitigation

Mold is a significant contributor to health problems associated with indoor air quality. Fungi has been gaining nation-wide prominence as a health concern in the past few years. Mold has very few requirements to proliferate, mainly moisture and a food source.

People who are sensitive to mold may complain of dry or burning eyes, throat or mucous membranes in the nose; sneezing, stuffy or runny nose; fatigue; headache; dizziness; nausea; irritability and forgetfulness. Even people who are not allergic to mold may experience upper respiratory symptoms if concentrations are elevated. Many fungi are common allergens, while other species produce mycotoxins or are opportunistic organisms.

HDC offers mold surveys for residential and commercial properties. The survey includes a visual inspection of affected areas, particularly those areas prone to water infiltration (crawlspaces, basements, bathrooms, windowsills), moisture surveys, and air/surface sampling. HDC is also capable of mold mitigation: identifying the source of moisture, removing building materials that are supporting mold colonies, cleaning remaining surfaces, and preventative measures, such as vapor barriers, exhaust systems, dehumidifiers, foundation sealing, UV lamps for HVAC systems.
