Sholem Pool Projects

Sholem Pool Outdoor Aquatic Facility
The Sholem Pool Outdoor Aquatic Facility is a large aquatic facility that is being constructed between swim seasons in 2005-2006. HDC Engineering served as a team member with Williams Architects and the Champaign Park District to provide this beautiful facility for water recreation. Areas of expertise and services provided by HDC Engineering to the project were:

- A detailed topographic site survey showing all existing land features, utilities, sewers, existing pools, and other existing improvements to be used for the project design.

- Established base lines and benchmarks to provide accurate horizontal and vertical control for the project.

- Soil borings and soil reports.

- Design and drafting of plans for all civil-related aspects of the project (paving, grading, erosion control, demolition plan, sewers, water, irrigations system, and demolition plans).

- Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan, weekly erosion control inspections and reports.

- Field observations and meetings.

- Quantity and cost estimates for civil work.

The End Result
An outdoor aquatic facility equipped with a body slide, raft/tube slide, lazy river, 25-meter lap pool, zero-depth main entry pool, zero-depth entry Kiddie pool, picnic and concession areas, bath house, additional parking and filter building. This facility will replace the existing facility that had many costly maintenance problems and did not fulfill the modern public?s needs for an outdoor aquatic facility. The facility will also be constructed with the option of adding a deep diving pool, and an additional body slide in the future. The facility has many other features that will allow the public of all ages a place for fun and relaxation during hot summer days.
